Turkmenistan Cape Period: Early 19th CenturyThis is a Tekke Turkoman Cape (chyrpy) heavily embroidered in silk thread generally by women for women. This beautiful piece would have been worn for ceremonies or at important occasions as a cloak covering the head and shoulders. It has long ornamental vestigial sleeves which are joined in the back with a decorative band. It is lined with Russian cotton. In mint never worn condition.
