The nature of CCGs means that the cards in the packs are entirely random across the set rarity of each pack, which for each Lorcana booster pack is 6 common cards, 3 uncommon cards, 2 rare, super rare, or legendary cards, and 1 foil card (random rarity level)
if an opponent challenges her, they (and any other opponents in the game, if youre playing Lorcana with more than the standard 2 players) must discard a card
I remember the shock I felt at the midpoint of Final Fantasy VI when Kefka betrayed the Emperor and cracked the land asunder (and yes, the first time I played I panicked and left Shadow behind on the Floating Continent)
Just keep in mind that the higher the brackets go, the less creature combat matters
Lyle does have a high ink cost of 8 but grants 3 Lore points when questing and has stats of 6 Strength and 4 Willpower, so he's a very valuable card
