These kinds of effects can really add up, especially if you have a few of them out at once
But I would argue this is more of a deckbuilding concern: so long as your deck plays enough creatures to reliably have more than one in play, this is less of a concern

For example, the commander, Isperia, Supreme Judge, may allow you to draw lots of cards if an opponent goes full send at you in combat, but there aren't a lot of ways in the deck to prevent the damage to give yourself time to play those cards
That's the plan with Clavileo, First of the Blessed, a holy cleric who recognizes the shortcomings of fangs and replaces them with wings and claws
