I think one of the biggest issues with Magic that people underlook is that the community is conservative as hell

In short, it's a crossover between how to play Magic: The Gathering and how to play Clue, where you'll need to deal damage or exile cards before you can ask your opponents what they know

It does get better with commander tax as you can employ similar strategies that overlap with aristocrat commander Prossh, Skyraider of Kher and abuse all those tokens you make from the powerful cast trigger

Still, I do think a Mono Black burn deck can use Mai, Scornful Striker to help kill our opponent

Honestly in most cases I'd prefer Mizzium Mortars in playgroups where Superfriends isn't common, but in a Spellslinger deck that wants a third asymmetrical board wipe (the first being Cyclonic Rift if you can afford it), then Immolating Gyre gets the job done
