but at least one that appears to be pewter (the boar is especially heavy)

and with a terrific blue scalloped border and interior

but I've since learned that there was quite a menagerie of them

Hand-painted Portrait Snuff Box boxing boy I haven't seen many withI love the history of gestures and body language as a vocabulary, and while much is lost on me, I've certainly seen many a pretty young woman portrayed with this raised hand gesture which, together with her deep blush and the bright yellow bow just below her corseted waist, signals both modesty and beckoning at the same time.
